The Hidden Ingredient That Silently Kills.

There are several videos floating around social media of Americans who have moved to another country claiming that all of their health problems have disappeared despite not having changed their eating habits. They share this information as a warning to those still in the U.S. that there is something in our food that is negatively affecting our health to the point of drastically lowering our quality of life and even possibly killing us.


But what is this mystery food?


Well, no surprise here, but it's GMO's.


As a naturopathic practitioner part of my job is educating people on how the body PROPERLY operates and how God intended for us to live. God makes no mistakes, meaning he created the body with the ability to heal itself and gave us an Earth full of medicine to aid in that healing.

These are four of the natural doctors that are provided to us by the Earth. Unfortunately, as time has passed this valuable information has been lost among the masses. People no longer view Mother Earth as an avenue for healing. Instead, they turn to pharmaceuticals.

Not only have pharmaceuticals become our main option for "healing" (in quotes because drugs don't actually heal you), but most people are now dependent on them because of the damage we have done to our food supply.


So why are GMO's so bad? Let's get into it...


GMO stands for genetically modified organism. For an organism to be genetically modified, biotech companies have made them to produce a toxic insecticide, known as the BT toxin, that breaks open holes in the cell walls of insects to kill them before they kill the plant.


When GMOs first started being used in Roundup ready crops, the biotech companies claimed this same effect would never happen to humans or mammals saying it would be destroyed in digestion.


But they were wrong.


Studies have now shown that the BT toxin present in GMO foods were found in 90% of pregnant women and 80% of their unborn fetuses. The BT toxin can continue to live and produce in the gut microbiome converting our intestinal bacteria into pesticide factories. If any amount of this toxin gets into the blood stream by leaking through the intestinal walls (a condition called leaky gut) our bodies create an antibody response which is an allergic reaction and allergic reactions in the body create inflammation.


So, imagine a person unknowingly eating a toxic food every single day designed to drill holes in cells, developing an allergy to it resulting in chronic inflammation.


Chronic inflammation itself, regardless of its origin, can create a whole host of other health problems, physical and psychological. Studies have now shown that the basis of all disease is inflammation.


Now set that information aside for a moment and bring your attention to the gut itself.


There is so much that happens in our gut microbiome. Not only is our gut in charge of proper digestion, but it also holds over 90% of our immune system and is also known as our second brain. It's the only other part of our body, aside from the brain, that holds neurotransmitters. These neurotransmitters communicate back and forth with our brain via the vagus nerve. Studies have proved that the type of food we eat dictates which bacteria becomes dominant in our gut and if the wrong bacteria take over it can result in depression and anxiety among several other intestinal and psychological disorders.


Let's move back to GMO's.


GMO crops are also fed to livestock. Livestock that are fed GMO crops such as corn or alfalfa have been found to have more bad bacteria in their gut because the good bacteria have been killed. This has given way for botulism in these animals to expand and then we either eat these animals or take their milk.


Studies have shown that botulism has been linked to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and chronic fatigue.


Other studies performed on rats who were given GMO water for the duration of their life developed massive tumors, organ damage and died 2-3x faster than the rats given normal water.


Thousands of doctors who have sat through lectures about the harmful effects of GMO foods have issued non-GMO diets to their patients. After a very short time most of their patient's illnesses vanished almost completely. These include bloating, chronic fatique, skin issues, and several intestinal disorders.


Not only are GMOs ruining our health, but they're also damaging our environment. The use of these crops has now affected the entire biosphere and ecosystem, getting into ground water and killing marine life. It has removed billions of years of evolution (which we evolve along with the Earth) and has replaced it with technology.


It's no wonder certain religious groups are now claiming that GMOs stand for "God Move Over".


However, you can help fight against future GMO use. The only reason Europe no longer uses GMOs in their food is because consumers simply said NO and stopped buying them. So even though you can buy just about all of the same brands of food in Europe as you can in the US, all of the brands sold to Europe contain no GMOs. You can also make donations to the Non GMO movement. Resources are posted below.


The only way to get rid of the use of GMOs in our food is by consumer rejection which will apply economic pressure on the GMO companies. Once consumers stop buying GMO foods, they will no longer make a profit which means there will be no use for their production.


But in order to do that you need to know which foods are made with GMOs. There are 9 crops that are sprayed with Roundup which are corn, soy, cotton seed oil, canola oil, sugar from sugar beets, alfalfa (animal hay) papaya from Hawaii or China and some green and yellow zucchini squash.


All organic labeled foods are made or grown with every intention to avoid GMOs. If a food is not organic it can still be GMO free which means it will either have the GMO Free label on the packaging or simply not have hidden GMO ingredients. If a non-organic product does not have the GMO Free label you will have to read the ingredients to be sure it is GMO free.

Avoiding GMO's may seem daunting at first, but once you get to know the ingredients, you'll naturally know what to look for in food labels. Grocery shopping may take a little longer the first few times but once you get the hang of it, it will become second nature. There are also all natural or organic grocery stores that have limited the amount of GMO foods they sell, but not completely. So even though these stores have made it slightly easier you will most likely still need to read food labels.


Some information provided here may seem scary, but knowledge is power and the more knowledge we have the more we can take control of our environment and our health.
