Natural Remedies for your Non-Medicine Cabinet-July Edition

Updated: Aug 14, 2024

On the first of every month, I put together an easy DIY natural remedy that others can keep in their home for either everyday use or preventative care. This "challenge" is intended to gradually fill your home with holistic products that won't cause long term damage to your health and to hopefully replace over the counter drugs that we know over time harm your organs and immune system.

Each remedy is intended to align with that particular month depending on the type of support your health and well-being may need. Throughout the year, every month tends to present a different health challenge which these remedies are designed to address. For example, during the summer months we battle bug bites and sunburns, during the colder months we battle colds and flus.

If you stick with this challenge for one year, by this time next year you will have everything you need to address just about every ailment we face through the changing of seasons.

Disclaimer: These remedies are not a substitute for medical care especially in the case of emergencies. They are to use as prevention to help avoid illness altogether. In case of serious illness or injury please consult with your doctor. This post may contain affiliate links.

I've been doing this challenge for the Holistic American Health Academy, which you can find on the Skool platform, for a few months now and I decided to share it here as well!

July of this year was the release of the first Natural Remedy for your Non-Medicine Cabinet: DIY Essential Oil Bug Spray, which can also be used as an after-bite spray, and the members loved it!

With a month or so still left of summer you still have time to make it or keep it on hand for next summer.

DIY Essential Oil Bug Spray

Welcome to the first Natural Remedy for your Non-Medicine Cabinet!

After the natural remedy challenge section, I provided you with some bonus material on a Bach Flower Remedy, and product suggestions. The natural remedy is to support your physical health, the Bach Flower Remedy is to support your mental and emotional health.

Essential oils are great for repelling bugs. Most EO's repel bugs but certain oils only repel certain kinds of bugs which is why it's always a good idea to use a combination of oils. There are loads of recipes you can try but I chose this one because it was simple, and most people have peppermint and lavender EO in their homes already. This specific recipe repels mosquitos, flies, gnats, and ticks-the bugs we dread the most come summer!

If you plan on using this recipe for children ages 3+ use 20-25 drops instead of 50 and only spray on their clothes. For adults and children avoid spraying on the face.

Let's Get Started!  👇

July’s Bach Flower Remedy

The Bach Flower Remedies are a safe and natural method of healing. They gently restore the balance between mind and body by casting out negative emotions, such as, fear, worry, hatred and indecision which interfere with the equilibrium of the being as a whole. The Bach Flower Remedies allow peace and happiness to return to the sufferer so that the body is free to heal itself.

Edward Bach, doctor and homeopath, discovered the healing power of flowers in the early 1900's. Dr. Bach's philosophy was that 'disease is entirely the result of a conflict between our spiritual and mortal selves. Health and happiness result from being in harmony with our own nature.'

These flower essences can not only provide stable emotions, but they can help prevent illness and provide support during healing and recovery.

Flower essences can be used on a short- or long-term bases and are completely safe for all ages including plants and animals. They have no side effects, are non-addictive and do not interfere with other medications.

There are 38 Bach Flowers, one for each personality. You may find that some remedies resonate with you while others do not. Not everyone will need every Bach remedy, but you may find a few-or several-you could benefit from.

July’s Bach Flower Remedy: Rescue Remedy

Rescue Remedy is arguably the most popular and widely used remedy because of its ability to target stress and anxiety-something we all know runs rampant in our society. Rescue Remedy is a combination of five of the original Bach Flower Remedies which are especially beneficial when you find yourself in traumatic situations, such as stress, emergencies, after getting bad news, before an exam or job interview and all other kinds of situations where we suddenly lose balance mentally. The Remedies quickly get us back in our normal state so that we can calmly deal with any situation.

Rescue Remedy is good for general anxiety, panic attacks, PTSD, anxiousness etc.…
